Ase Pramaso founder shares vision about Senya Beraku.

 


The founder and president of Ase Pramaso Women's Movement, Rev. Mother Aba Folson, has shared what she envisions about the Senya Beraku community, where she hails from and has strong passion towards it's development. 

According to the Chief Executive Officer of NYANiba Health College she believes potentially  the Senya Beraku community has very close identity with the State of Florida in the United States of America and would wish investors and settlers choose the community for investment and rest after retirement. 

Even though there is nothing to be compared between the United State and Ghana in terms of infrastructural, economics, military and other development elements, she sees this very town in Ghana, as a place where, like Florida, people from around the globe can choose for investment and residence after retirement.

According to the mobiliser of the strongly  growing women movement in Ghana, Senya Beraku is strategically close enough to the nations capital to provide easy movement of residence and tourist even out of the country through every known means of transportation except rail, to do business and pursue other agenda. 

Meanwhile, its proximity to Kasoa (one of the biggest markets in Ghana) to the east and sharing boundary with Winneba to the west gives the Senya Beraku community a further boost towards becoming the center of good investment and relaxation for its dwellers. Much closer also is the Westhill Mall to ease movement for groceries and several other necessities. 

Besides, the community, which the Dutch called Village of Good Hope and with that hope built the Fort Good Hope in the 1660s, shares boundary with the Atlantic ocean and has seven clean and beautiful beaches, which can be developed by investors to provide multiple services to all.

Apart from its beautiful culture and captivating annual Akomesi festival, there is much serenity in the town to afford peace of mind for settlers.

All these and several other factors form the basis for which the founder of Ase Pramaso has touted Senya Beraku as the Florida of Ghana.

SENYA BERAKU SE-YE ADA (Clan Names) || Akrama Ano Clan in Focus

In Senya Beraku there are two basic forms of family relations and they are 'Se-ye' and 'Ni-ye'.  Literally Se-ye means father's house while Ni-ye means mother's house. When a Senya refers to his Ni-ye he is actually referring to his family, which is maternal. When he refers to his Se-ye he is referring to his clan, which is paternal. Children in Senya are named from their paternal clans by the senior member of the clan or his/her grandfather. Thus the child's father receives the name from his father or his father's brother if his father is late. This is important because in Senya tradition everybody from your father's clan is your father. Each Se-ye in Senya Beraku has peculiar male and female names that can be traced directly to the deity of the clan. And it enables easy identification of a person's background and father's clan. SENYA AKUMASE FESTIVAL – BRIEF HISTORY

Senya Beraku Traditional Area is in the Awutu Senya District of the Central Region. The people of this land are Guans and they speak the Senya dialect. Fishing is the dominant occupation of the people but farming, building construction, dress making, hairdressing, trading, driving, mechanics and teaching provide other means of livelihood. The Senya Beraku Akumase festival is traditional farming processes that culminate into the August celebration of bumper harvest in August each year. It is a festival that recounts the greatest historical famine that ever struck the community and how our ancestors were able to use systematic agricultural process to combat the affliction, eventually ending it with bumper harvest.
