 Senya Akumase Festival Set to Kick Off on August 22nd.


The Senya Akumase Festival, a vibrant celebration of culture and tradition, will take place from August 22nd to August 28th. 

The Senya Akumase Festival, has a rich history dating back to the community's historical famine and the ancestors' agricultural achievements that brought an end to the affliction. Over the years, the festival has evolved into a grand celebration of bumper harvest, showcasing the community's rich cultural heritage.

This year's celebration promises to be an exciting experience, with a packed schedule of events and activities.

The festival will begin with the Akumase Commencement Parade and Cleanup Exercises by the youth on Thursday, August 22nd, followed by the Dentiwo Odusora Kusum (Carrying of Deity) event in the evening. Over the next few days, attendees can look forward to various events, including the Dentiwo Path Clearing, Ataa Kwesi Ndaase (Children's Festival), and Dentiwo Warrior Procession (Akumase All-Red Carnival) on Friday.

Saturday, August 24th, will be a jam-packed day, with the Remembrance of the Dead Dawn event, Family Reunion at various family houses, Akumase Regatta and Beach Games, Akumase Blue Saturday Carnival, and Akumase Jam/Liveband.

On Sunday, August 25th, the community will come together for a Thanksgiving Service at various churches, expressing gratitude and joy to Ndaase Yompo, the Almighty God, for his protection, provision and Providence. In the evening, the Tuawo Odusora Kusum will take place. 

On Monday, August 26th, the Tuawo Warriors Procession (Tuawo Goda) will take place, featuring an all-white Carnival. This will be followed by a grand Durbar on Tuesday, August 27th.

The festival will conclude on Wednesday, August 28th, with Akumase Prayers, bringing the celebration to a close.
